Control Your Destiny or Someone Else Will
How Jack Welch Is Making General Electric the Worldfs Most Competitive Company
By: Noel M. Tichy and Stratford Sherman

Review by: Lydia Morris Brown
|
A narrative of the key events of Welch ’s leadership of GE from 1981 through mid-1992. This is not just a corporate ''history,'' but rather a comprehensive theory of change, which teaches essential lessons to individuals and corporations alike. Included is the ''Handbook for Revolutionaries''-a manual that provides guidelines for applying the experiences of GE in a variety of situations. The authors show an authoritative command of their subject without the heavy-handedness that sometimes accompanies mastery. In fact, what is most striking about this "analysis" is its lively style and narrative, first person voice, which make the material accessible to the widest audience.
